In the Horn of Africa, many children have lost one of or both of their parents as a result of the endless conflict that has ravaged the country for nearly two decades. UNICEF estimates there are over half a million orphans in Somalia. With a small number of nonprofits serving orphans and no governmental services, most of these children end up falling through the cracks.
